It depends on when you need it. I don't know of any promotion codes, but there is a Red Roof Inn, if I recall correctly around mile marker 6, on the island. It is clean and reasonable. I stayed there when I was house hunting, and that was during season and I still paid (by memory) $79 / night. No frills, but clean. Outdoor pool.
The only hotel I know of on HHI is the Holiday Inn. Most of Hilton Head is rental properties: Saturday to Saturday.
