I have searched through maps, hotel reviews, and even tried to Priceline (failed to accept) a descent hotel within 3-5 miles of the Santa Monica Pier or even Venice Beach. I have had no luck!!!
My budget is $70 a night. I need a clean room in a safe area. I would like to be able to drive to the beach in less than 10 minutes. I don't need plush down comforters or flat screen t.v.'s. Just a room clean enough for my family for 2 nights, (June 16 check in) and (June 18 check out).
Does anyone have a personal experience that could help suggest a hotel?Clean, cheap hotel near Santa Monica Beach Pier, CA?

Please understand that any where near the beach is prime real estate, and commands a premium price. Hotels near the beach will be at least double your budget. I really doubt you want to take your family to a youth hostel.
Unless you have some particular love affair with Santa Monica, you will find that Orange County has dramatically cleaner, and safer beaches than most of Los Angeles County. There too hotels will be more than you are budgeting, but not as expensive as in the Santa Monica area. Since you say you will have a car it really isn't that far to drive.
and after you check into your 70 dollar hotel near the beach, you can stop by the Porsche dealer and buy a 2010 Turbo for 800 bucks and drive to Spago for a 99 cent dinner.
You are in an area where the rooms are double that price,
Even a dump in Watts is 50 bucks a night.
You have had no luck because these places dont exist. They sell out for twice of what you are offering.
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: http://bookme.com/hotels.php and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
Yeaaaa, good luck with that.
I doubt if you'll find a $70 a night room in a clean, safe, pleasant place in SaMo. By the beach. During summer time. Maybe a motel.
Good luck!
HAHA! Yeah right! A $70/night hotel in Santa Monica!?
Using google maps, input santa monica pier calif, on the map will be search nearby and type in motels, on the left will be a list to call.
Rates go by the day of the week your staying, season, special events in the area at the time your going.
Sorry never stayed in that area, but have traveled alot and have learned this from experience.
You might not find a room of that rate because
Its California
Its almost summer
Its near the beach
Its in a busy city.
Its near a holiday or summer season.
I did a quick search that way and used a poorly rated hotel so itd be a cheap estimate and for tonight and check out tomarrow is 169.00 PLUS tax which could ring it up to say 190.00 or so. Monday to tues was at 129.00 plus tax. My search I used santa monica pier to get prices I knew would be along the beach. I doubt you will find near the beach rates like that. So you might want to try using santa monica ca to do the search. Good luck on that, stay by the coast though most inland areas are not very safe, if you dont know the area. Other cities that have a nice beach to look into possibly are Manhanttan Beach, Hermosa Beach or Redondo Beach.
