I have planned to go to Amsterdam in the April.
I am looking for a clean Hotel (Hostel) in the Amsterdam.
Can somebody suggest me?
ThanksGood cheap hotel in Amsterdam?
It's not a great location to be very honest, but then then you have to weigh up all the factors of cost %26amp; cleanliness vs location.
It is not on a metro line. To get to e.g. Dam square it takes 20-30 mins by either bus and then train, or by train only (walking 12mins from the hotel to the station) and getting back in the late evening could be problematic.
One of the best ways you can get input it by looking at a site which guests give their own (unbiased) reviews
Here are the reviews for this hotel on Tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserRevie鈥?/a>
Another good site which gives a range of places and independent reviews is http://www.hostelworld.com/
EDIT - regarding the time taken to get from the hotel to the centre, you can visit the public transport site which gives door to door planning, BUT it is only in Dutch http://www.9292ov.nl/
Here is the translation for the two routes I mentioned:
Route 1:
14.46 Leave hotel and walk 12 mins to Station Sloterdijk
14.58 Get train heading 'Heerlen' from Platform 6
15.04 Arrival Amsterdam Centraal Station
Then you can catch the tram or walk (+/- 7 mins to Dam square)
Route 2:
14.46 Leave hotel and walk 1 min to busstop on Kabelweg
14.47 Catch bus 48 heading 'Station Sloterdijk'
14.51 Arrival Station Sloterdijk
14.57 Take train from Sloterdijk to A'dam CS
15.02 Arrival A'dam CS
Then you can catch the tram or walk (+/- 7 mins to Dam square)Good cheap hotel in Amsterdam?
That hotel is about a half kilometer from the Sloterdijk train station which is 5 minutes from the Central Station in Amsterdam by train. From the Central station, you can walk or take the tram anywhere you want to go.
The hotel is not in the old town, but is a good price at that time of year. I visit Amsterdam for a week at the end of April every year. While I prefer to stay near Dam Square, the prices there will be more than twice as much for most of the available options since it's the peak of the tulip season.
I've used the Venere.com site frequently here in Europe and never had a problem. Most recently, I booked rooms in Bologna for last Friday night and in Copenhagen for Saturday and Sunday and was very pleased with the result. However, in the Netherlands, I use the hotels.nl site only because I have used it successfully for more years than the Venere site. http://www.hotels.nl/ I don't think there's a big difference between the two though - both are excellent sites.
I think it is not expensive but at a lousy location. Not a unsafe neighbourhood, but far from the center.
Is money the issue and the quality less important than the location and price, why not try a hostel? Flying pig? Hans brinker? for backpackers.
Or else: I agree that http://www.9292ov.nl/ is a good place to get information about traveling from your hotel to the centre
