Going to Vegas for my birthday on April 24-27. I am having a lot of people travel with me and I we are going to go though Expedia.com. I want to stay in the middle of the strip so we can try and go see everything. I saw and liked the Imperial Palace, Stratosphere and Paris. The price is reasonable at these places. I am just just scared that the pics look good and when I get there I be disappointed. If you like these or heard of these or name some others and Ill go check them out. What is the best cheap hotel on the Strip in Vegas to stay at?
Of your 3 choices, Paris is far and away the best option. I have stayed there several times (with my wife) and have never observed an above normal amount of gay or lesbian couples. I have never heard that theory before.
You could not pay me to stay at Imperial Palace. Stratosphere is OK but as mentioned, no where near mid strip. Excalibur is also not mid strip and is a kid magnet.
Look into the Monte Carlo, Ballys or the Flamingo for generally good rates. You might also check into Harrahs but I do not have any experience with their rooms.
If all the above are close, I would definately go for ParisWhat is the best cheap hotel on the Strip in Vegas to stay at?
The Excalibur is probably your best deal right now. Also it is sometimes cheaper to go right through the hotel website. Paris is where alot of gay and lesbians stay so unless you are either of those i don't recommend it. Stratosphere is in a not so nice area of town and it is along way off from everything else
Use this site to price hotels. http://www.sidestep.com/
The Stratosphere is too far north on the strip so avoid that one along with the Sahara, Riviera and Circus Circus. IP is fine for an inexpensive place to stay. Location is great. Paris is usually much more expensive but if you like the price then stay there by all means.
Flamingo is always a good choice for an inexpensive clean hotel. Imperial Palace is a dump! For a first timer I would agree that you would want to stay somewhere in the middle of the strip. Paris and Mirage are great but very ';hoity toity';. Treasure Island is a great one also. Have fun
out of the ones you mentioned.... i would choose paris, its middle of everything, way way nicer than IP and the excaliber is ok... but again it is not middle strip..... I stayed at the MGM grand for 55/night week day 99/night and I LOVED IT :)
have fun :)
Paris is beautiful. Actually, all of them are great. Before you buy from Expedia, check out BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites from one location, and save tons of money. Good luck!
Most of the hotels can be pricey, but are some cheap rates that they offer, maybe in downtown most of the hotels have good rates, but anything on the strip can be pricey.
I've stayed at Excalibur twice and probably again this summer, it is cheap and cheerful and located quite decently near Luxor and MGM, like another answerer I've heard Imperial Palace is dump but is well located.
I've heard that imperial palace is a dump. Excalibur has really good rates right now and I've heard they're not bad for the price. I'm going in May and a lot of my friends are staying there. Good luck!
I also suggest Excalibur, it is a nice hotel and it has good room rates. Check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com/categ… for the latest Excalibur promotions, I think this can save money.
Monte Carlo
Planet Hollywood
Harrah's
The Stratosphere is the least expensive of those you mentioned. But the location is drab during the day and really creepy and not the safest at night... Not a good place to be walking at night. I will never stay there.
The Imperial Palace is old and in need of a major facelift. But if you're into gambling, ';Old'; works for their casino. The casino has a ';Classic Vegas'; feel, and by the sounds of happiness in the slot area, whenever I've gone through it... I'd say the slots there are pretty ';loose' compared to most casinos. But the rest of the hotel is in dire need of improvement.
Paris has drastically reduced it's rates lately. One of my co-workers just came back. She and her husband never could afford to stay there until now. She paid $90 for a ';Luxury'; room which is actually what Paris calls their ';standard room';. She could have had the ';Red'; class (the mid-level) for 30 more. But stuck with the ';luxury';. That room class was about $145-180 when I checked the rates about 6 months ago.
Excalibur just had a major renovation done on it's rooms. They've been sending me offers every week. The rooms look great. It's not my favourite location since it tends to be over-run with families. But the rates have been well under $40 in their ';valued guest'; offers. So I would imagine the rates to be in the $40-50 range for everybody else, so check with Expedia. Some people shy away from that end of The Strip, since it is at the far end of The Strip. But it's actually in a very good location near to New York New York, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and others. Also, unlike the other end where the Stratosphere is... Excalibur is in an extremely safe area for walking at all hours. It's also connected to The Luxor by free tram and interior moving walkway. And that same tram also goes to Mandalay Bay.
Since you prefer a mid-Strip location, Check out Treasure Island, Mirage, and Planet Hollywood. They are in great locations and often have rates in the $ $85-90 range, these days.
Of the 3 you mentioned, Paris is by far the best. IP has really gone from bad to worse. Getting to your rooms is a pain, and the rooms are in need of renovation. I stayed at the Strat once and had the worst hotel experience of my life, so I'm biased. If nothing else, though, the Strat is in a lousy location for someone w/o a car, and even if you have a car, it's still too far from anything else.
Paris has great restaurants and is right in the middle of everything.
I would advise to book directly with the hotel instead of Expedia. Sign up for Harrah's players club online to start getting their email and regular mail offers. You'd be surprised at what you can get. Check the Las Vegas chat boards online. Plenty of forums and sites out there have links to codes that will get you great rates. Harrah's owns Paris, Bally's, Harrah's, Rio, Caesars and Imperial Palace.
MGM/Mirage also has a lot of properties and signing up for their players club will get you offers for all of their places as well. Vegas is financially hurting right now, so there are tons of unbelievable deals out there. Take advantage of them!
Have fun and happy birthday.
Excalibur is definitely your best bet. Imperial Palace is a bit of a dump, which is why their rates are so cheap. Stratosphere is a nice hotel, but it is waaaaay North on the strip and not an easy walk from the center. It is near downtown, though. Paris is a nice hotel, but their rates are higher than Excalibur's.
Currently Excalibur is running a special for $31/night on select dates. But since you are going on a weekend, your rates will be a bit higher. If you book directly, your rates would be $70/ $70/ $30 for a total of $200.41 including all taxes and fees. This is for a standard room. Their new renovated Widescreen rooms are very nice and run about $15 more per night. We got a chance to stay in them last August, and I think they are as nice as they look in the pictures on the website. The cost for the upgrade to the Widescreen room would be $85/ $43/ $85 for a total of $246.19 after all taxes and fees. I have to say, in Vegas, this is definitely a great price for weekend rates, which easily range from $150-$300 per night in most hotels.
