Where can I find CHEAP hotel prices in lakeland, Florida?

I am planning on going to Lakeland Florida to see the Detroit Tigers in spring training. I'm on a tight college budget. Where would you recammd me going/staying? Should I stay outside of Lakeland to cut the cost down?

I can careless if its a ';crappy place';

I will be flying out of detroit to orlando...*i believe that's the closest airport to Lakeland)...so I won't have a vehicle

Every hotel I find either doesnt have those dates available

Mar 12-14 or there prices are way to expensive.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

There is no outside of Lakeland unless you stay in Winter Haven, which is about 30 minutes away. You will need to rent a car to get to Lakeland from the Orlando Airport. As far as getting a room in Lakeland, you will be hardpressed since it is Spring Training after all. You might want to check out the Detroit Tigers message boards and maybe you could stay with someone who needs a room mate. There are several hotels right down from the ball park, so you could walk to the park if you end up staying at one of the nearby hotels. You will still need a car to get back to airport for your flight home.

Maybe next year you should make your plans a little more in advance...say 6 months to have better luck at getting a good room rate and rental car rate.

Good luck to you!!!Where can I find CHEAP hotel prices in lakeland, Florida?
The cheapest place in Lakeland proper that I was able to find with availability for your dates is the La Quinta Inn Lakeland East -- $85.00/night.

However, you can get a slightly cheaper rate by staying 10 miles out, in Winter Haven -- there's a Super 8 for $70.00/night.

Head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/florida/lakela鈥?/a> and click the ';Check Availability'; button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort by price -- that'll put the cheapest places first (and still show you how far away each hotel is from Lakeland).

As mentioned by others, you'll need to get yourself to Lakeland from Orlando International Airport -- a taxi or shuttle would be very expensive, you'll probably want to consider renting a car...

Hope that helps...have fun!
You can search hundreds of websites at once. You can compare the prices from the major travel agencies like Expedia, Hotwire, Kayak, LastMinuteTravel, Priceline, Travelocity, etc.

to cut through the deals check out http://www.travelcusehotels.com to book your stay. the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck!
First, Orlando Airport is an hour drive from Lakeland. You'll need a way to get there. It isn't your typical catch a shuttle opportunity. Second, there really isn't an ';outside'; Lakeland. Most of the hotels are close enough to the park you should be able to bum a ride, catch a bus, or call for a cab. But don't expect typical city cab service. Get on one of the Tigers discussion boards and ask the people who come every year. Maybe you can catch a ride, or share a room with someone else from Michigan. I live in Lakeland and the city fills with Michigan plates during Spring Training. I'll post your question on my Lakeland website...maybe someone will be able to help you out. Good luck.
